I MADE IT

Wow. Where do I begin? I finally made it to the city I’ve been dreaming of my entire life, and it’s exactly how I imagined. In three days I’ve seen more history, beauty and class than I’ve ever seen before. But let me go back to the beginning. I arrived after a quick 7 hour flight with 2 friends from school. We took a risk and rode a bus to a place we were told was near the hostel we’d be staying at for four nights. Luckily it actually was a few blocks away. However, the longest “few” blocks of my life. Imagine getting off a busy city bus, and walking in a place with a similar to downtown Chicago for a few blocks with two suitcases having no idea where you’re going. We asked around and an adorably fashionable older lady walked us where we needed to go. So in our hostel room there are 8 beds in my room, the first two nights we shared the room with one girl from Brazil and four girls from Lyon, France. That was very interesting to speak with them and see differences with how each other interacts.
So in these few days, we walked and walked and walked and walked! until we reached places like the Moulin Rouge, l’Arc de Triomphe, Champs Élysées, Centre de George Pompidou, and Notre Dame. Everything has been amazing and beautiful. I just can’t believe I’m here.
Moulin Rouge

Champs-Elysees, a huge famous street with lots of shopping

    Place de la Concorde

    Notre Dame

French stereotypes that prove to be true:
    • every person, man or woman, girl or boy, no matter what age, is extremely beautiful/stylish/fashionable/dresses AWESOME. seriously guys it’s a fashion show down every sidewalk
    • everything is very expensive
    • portions are small
    • some men really do laugh like the candlestick from Beauty and the Beast (hon hon hon)
    • there are designer stores everywhere you look like Gucci, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Jimmy Choo, Pucci, Louis Vuitton etc.
    • every Parisian speaks english (annoying. the second they realize I’m American they try to speak English to me)
    • tourists are EVERYWHERE
    • you can get crepes ANYWHERE
    • people do drink coffee/wine 24/7
    • everyone wears black
french stereotypes that proved to not be true:
    • I was told Parisians dislike Americans and may not be nice/helpful. They have been so kind, caring and welcoming so far! :)
    • some people actually do wear tennis shoes, but they’re super fashionable like high top nikes with studs or something
    • they have soda :)
